However, the following are a list of activities in Thunder Bay that we think you may enjoy with us or on your own excursions.

Natural Wonders and Scenic Views

1. Kakabeka Falls

Kakabeka Falls, aka “Niagara of the North,” is the second highest waterfall in the province at 40 metres high.

2. Mount McKay 

Located on the Indian Reserve of the Fort William First Nation, Mount McKay rises 1000ft over the city. At 500ft there is a viewing scope and skyline walk which offers a breathtaking view of Lake Superior and the surrounding area.

3. Prince Arthur Landing

The revitalized Waterfront District is home to dozens of shops, restaurants, bars and more.

4. Mission Island Marsh

A 600m boardwalk overlooking colourful aquatic vegetation and various ecosystems present in the Conservation Area, including Forest, Coastal Wetland, Lagoon and Meadow.

3. Terry Fox Monument

Located in the outskirts Thunder Bay, the monument is a nine foot tall bronze statue memorializing Terry Fox and offers breathtaking views of Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant


1. Goods and Co. Market

Located in the Waterfront District, Goods & Co. Market offers a boutique shopping experience in the renovated downtown iconic Eatons Centre. Shop local with 25+ unique food and merchandise vendors as well as common areas with seating.


Hiking & Outdoor Adventures

1. Eagle Canyon Adventures

You’ll experience two thrilling suspension bridges that hang over Eagle Canyon. One of these is Canada’s longest suspension bridge!

2. Cascades Conservation Area

The Cascades Conservation Trail Loop (3.5km) takes you along Current River and up to Cascade Falls and loops around through a beautiful poplar and birch forest.

3. Sleeping Giant Provincial Park

Breathtaking views of Lake Superior and the surrounding area. Over 100 km of incredible hiking trails with many spectacular geological features such as the ‘Sea Lion’ and Tee Harbour.

4. Sail Superior

A multi vessel fleet that offers high-speed adventures to leisurely cruising, including Wine & Cheese Cruises, Harbour Tours and the Welcome Islands Blast excursions.

5. Amethyst Mining

Open-pit mines for a fun pick-your-own adventure or grab polished amethyst gift items and jewelry from one of the many gift shops throughout the city.

6. Wisk Air Helicopters

Offers spectacular sightseeing tours from the North Shore of Lake Superior, providing you with views of the North and South shores of the largest fresh water lake in the world, and will stop at stunning remote locations for picnics and wine.
